How do I obtain a 1099 Form and tax documents?

Overview

This article explains how Contently uses PayPal as a payment processor for freelancer payments and the IRS reporting requirements for such payments. It also provides guidance on accessing income information through PayPal.

Information

Contently utilizes PayPal (third party payer) as a payment processor for all freelancer payments on the Contently Platform. As such, the requirement to report such payments falls on the payment processor (in this case, PayPal).

The IRS dictates the third party payor must report payments made in the course of a trade or business to a person who's not an employee or to an unincorporated business, if payments are above $5,000 in the 2024 calendar year.

Please visit your PayPal account to view or download your income information. If you have trouble obtaining your records, please contact PayPal support directly. Unfortunately, Contently is unable to assist you on matters regarding your PayPal account or 1099 issues with PayPal.

Summary

This article covers the use of PayPal by Contently for freelancer payments, IRS reporting requirements for payments over $5,000, and instructions for accessing income information through PayPal. For further assistance, contact PayPal support directly.
