Overview
Some users may have questions about the cookie and tagging support of Contently Analytics. Specifically, they may want to know if Contently Analytics relies on a 3rd party cookie, if it can operate on a 1st party cookie, and if it supports Server-side tagging (SST).
Solution
Reliance on a 3rd Party Cookie
Contently Analytics uses its own secure cookie in the domain 'assets.contently.com'. It is not mandatory to use Contently Analytics, and content can be published without it. Contently Analytics is installed separately into your CMS or other publishing platform.
Operation on a 1st Party Cookie
Contently Analytics uses its internal cookie mechanism and does not support first-party cookies. Supporting this would require a product change. However, Contently Analytics is not mandatory, and another tool that supports 1st-party cookies could be used for content published by Contently.
Support for Server-side Tagging (SST)
Content published via Contently supports any kind of tagging that can be installed into the CMS or other publishing platform. However, Contently Analytics does not support server-side tagging (SST).
Summary
Contently Analytics uses its own secure cookie and does not support 1st party cookies or SST. However, it is not mandatory to use Contently Analytics, and other tools that support these features can be used for content published by Contently.
