Overview

This article explains how to claim and submit a story in Contently. You’ll learn how to take ownership of a workflow step, work on the content, and submit it when your part of the process is complete.

Information

In Contently, claiming and submitting a story is a key part of the workflow. By claiming a step, you take responsibility for completing that specific task in the content creation process. Once your work is finished, submitting the story moves it to the next step, keeping the project on track.

Here’s how to claim and submit a story in Contently:

Step 1: Claiming a story

  • Once a story is assigned to you, navigate to the story page from the Stories Library or Calendar.
  • If you are responsible for the current workflow step, you will see the option to "Claim" the story at the top of the page.
  • Click the "Claim" button to take ownership of the step. This signals that you are now working on this part of the workflow.

After claiming the story, the left side of the page will display the text editor, where you can begin drafting or revising the content.

Step 2: Working on your step

  • Once you’ve claimed the story, use the text editor to complete your task. Whether you’re writing, editing, or reviewing, make sure to follow any instructions provided in the workflow.
  • Collaborate with other team members by adding inline comments or making necessary revisions based on feedback.
  • Your work is saved automatically, but you can also save manually by clicking the "Save" button to ensure all progress is stored.

Step 3: Submitting your step

  • When your work is complete, click the "Submit" button at the top of the page to indicate that your part of the workflow is finished.
  • Submitting the story moves it to the next workflow step, and the team member assigned to that step will be notified.
  • If you’re not ready to submit, you can click "View" to review your work or save it as a draft for further revisions later.

Step 4: Tracking progress

  • Once you submit your step, the story will move forward in the workflow. You can monitor the story’s progress through the workflow stages from the Stories Library or Calendar view.
  • If further revisions are needed at a later stage, the story can be returned to you for additional work.

By claiming and submitting a story in Contently, you ensure that your part of the content creation process is completed efficiently. This helps the team maintain a steady flow of progress and keeps the entire content production on track.
